Land Clearing Mornington Peninsula
Block prep, coastal scrub knockdown and small acreage clearing across the Mornington Peninsula, worked to permit lines and Significant Landscape Overlay boundaries.
Land clearing on the Peninsula covers a wide range, a quarter-acre Mornington build site that needs the footprint stripped, a holiday block in Rye where ti-tree and coastal scrub have taken over the back half, or an acreage property on the hinterland side where woody weeds are pressing into the paddock. Each job starts with a walk-around so we understand what's coming out, what needs to stay, and where the permit boundaries sit.
Mornington Peninsula Shire overlays matter more than most people realise on first call. Significant Landscape Overlays, Environmental Significance Overlays and protected native vegetation can all stop a clearing job in its tracks. We won't take a chainsaw to anything that needs council sign-off until that paperwork is sorted, and we'll point you at the right form to lodge if it isn't yet. Established moonah, coastal tea-tree and indigenous gums are usually worth keeping anyway, they stabilise sandy soils, shelter the block from salt wind, and add real character. We'll flag the ones worth retaining as we walk.
Once the boundaries are clear, the actual clearing runs in a sequence, drop the scrub and smaller regrowth first to open access, then take the larger trees within the permit line, chip everything that fits the machine, and stockpile heavier trunk material to one corner of the block. Mulch gets left in piles for you to use, spread across the site, or trucked off depending on what the next stage of work needs.

Land Clearing FAQs
Do I need a council permit to clear vegetation on the Peninsula?
Often yes, depending on tree size, species and what overlays apply to the title. Mornington Peninsula Shire protects native vegetation, moonah stands and any tree inside a Significant Landscape Overlay or Environmental Significance Overlay. Smaller scrub and exempt species can usually go without paperwork. We'll walk the block, identify what's protected, and steer you to the right council form if a permit is needed.
Can the crew do bushfire fuel reduction on the Peninsula?
Yes. Properties on the hinterland side and around the Cups run real bushfire risk in summer. We work to defendable space principles, dropping ladder fuels, low scrub and overhanging canopy within the inner zone around the house. The result is a property a fire truck can actually defend.
What happens to the mulch and timber?
Default is chipping on site and leaving the mulch in piles, you can spread it, use it, or pay a haulage line to truck it away. Heavier trunk material gets cut into rounds and either stacked along a fence for firewood, or removed if you don't want it kept. We'll ask on the day rather than assume.
Can you work around trees that need to stay?
Yes, that's normal on a Peninsula job. Protected moonah, coastal tea-tree or anything inside a vegetation overlay gets marked and worked around. We use protective barricades around trunks during the rest of the clearing so the keepers aren't knocked by machinery. If a builder needs them protected to a council standard we can install tree protection zones to spec.
